Neal Hefti was an American jazz trumpeter, composer, and arranger who is best known for his work on the theme music for the 1960s Batman television series. Hefti composed the iconic "Batman Theme" in 1966, which became an instant hit and one of the most recognizable theme songs in television history. The composition was a surf-rock-inspired instrumental piece that featured a catchy electric guitar riff backed by a brass and percussion section. Hefti's other notable works include "The Odd Couple Theme," "Harlow's Theme," and "Girl Talk." He passed away in 2008 at the age of 85.
